This rack would be perfect except it literally STINKS
This is a nice dumbbell rack for individuals with limited space. The rack measures 14.96 in. L x 12.6 in. W x 26.18 in. H. I'm not much of a weightlifter, but I wanted something to get my neoprene dumbbells off the floor. This rack requires some assembly. All of the bolts, nuts, and washers were included in the package. I started to assemble it by myself, but I eventually needed my boyfriend's help to tighten the nuts. It took us about 20 minutes. It appears to be made out of steel and seems to be very durable. I've posted a picture above to give you an idea of the size of the rack. I was also amazed at how they were able to package the rack in such a small box. I was expecting a big parcel, but it was actually shipped in a narrow box. I think the total shipping weight was about 8 lbs.
One thing I have noticed is that this rack has a strong odor, possibly from the rubber guards. I'm not sure what it's from, but it is quite powerful and noxious. Other reviewers have compared it to a campfire smell or burning rubber, which is accurate. And it's noticeable from a distance. If I had to put my nose to the rack to smell it, I wouldn't mind. But I can smell this thing clear across the house, which is very bothersome. If you are even slightly sensitive to odors, stay away from this product.
UPDATE - 8/16/10
Unfortunately, the strong odor from the dumbbell rack has not faded over the last few weeks, in spite of removing the rubber guards and trying to deodorize them. I just put the entire rack in my garage and let it sit to air out. I can say confidently that a Hazmat crew couldn't even decontaminate this thing. I have also discovered that the rubber guards have left permanent black stains on my neoprene dumbbells. I contacted Cap to let them know about these two issues and they requested that I actually send the rack to them for inspection. I was more than happy to say bon voyage and wish it a safe journey on it's trip back to Cap headquarters. I just hope that whoever opened the box didn't pass out from toxic fumes.
