Yikes!
Because I realize that most people don't give a rat's nose *what* I think about a movie, I take a whack at a review only on about one film in twenty. And….. I don't believe in reviewing anything that I haven't watched all the way through. With "The Prince" I'm making an exception, because I felt that I should provide a warning to those on a budget and who don't want to risk spending their hard earned cash on something they probably won't enjoy. Normally, I like Bruce Willis. And I like movies that fit the description provided for this film. Sadly, however, this is one of the very rare films that bored me to the extent that I was able to endure only part of it before I decided that I didn't want to waste any more of my evening - even though I had actually paid to watch it. For one thing, Bruce must have worked an entire afternoon to film his total amount of screen time. He finally showed up on screen well into the movie. By then, I hadn't managed to work up any sort of connection to any of the other characters, realized that I really didn't care what the Hell eventually happened to them - and wasn't finding the "hero" to be at all believable. I think that Jason Patric was an inappropriate fit for the role - but then again, I don't believe that *anybody* could have done much with it. The entire concept has been overdone already. And done *much* better. Daughter of retired bad ass kidnapped and bad ass has to rescue her, taking out several men at a time all by himself along the route, etc. etc. etc. In short, this isn't a good movie - for multiple reasons. And I highly recommend that you spend your rental money on something that you're reasonably certain you'd enjoy. This was the closest to a one star rating I've ever come; but the fact is that star designates "I Hate It"…. and the movie couldn't even incite that strong a reaction. "HoHum" may have be the most descriptive term.
