I was excited to see a 30th anniversary reprint of one of the greatest movies of all time. Even more excited to see that there was a new documentary and some hints that this might even be a new transfer. For anyone interested, it's not a new transfer. It's exactly the same disc that came in the Alien Anthology Blu-ray. My Blu-ray player asked if I wanted to continue playing where I had left off after inserting the disc for the first time (confirming my suspicion). I haven't watched the "All-New Featurette", yet. However, I was disappointed to see that it's not on a physical disc; it's a streaming featurette available for "a limited time only", and if this isn't bad enough, it can only be streamed 10 times. The inserted art is interesting, but shallow. It's presented without context or explanation. Update: The All-New Featurette digital code doesn't even work. At the time of writing several others on the blu-ray.com forum are having the same issue [0]. I should note, if you don't have Aliens on Blu-ray and don't care for the other movies in the franchise (or don't want to have the pox that is Alien Resurrection in your home), this would be a fine edition to your home video library. I'm primarily disappointed that this is a reboxing of the previous release and one of the primary draws for fans of movie documentaries doesn't work as advertised.
