Electrical system failed and was dangerous
I sent this as a gift for my sister for Mother's Day. The original bulb didn't work, so she bought a new one. I am quoting her e-mail to me about the product: "I replaced the 15 watt 120 volt lightbulb with a 4 watt 120 volt lightbulb. The enclosed directions say that you can use a 25 watt or lower bulb, while the cord said 15 watts or lower. The only bulb I could find that was the right size was 4 watts. Anyway, I had the electrical unit with socket out of the salt crystal to change the bulb, and check the new one to make sure it worked before getting the whole thing back together. I plugged the cord into the outlet, and immediately experienced a loud zap and sensation of heat. The cord near the outlet was partially melted, the lightbulb was charred black at the base and the entire cord was hot. It also tripped my circuit breaker. I was surprised the bulb didn't burst. Good thing I was touching only plastic! I tossed the electrical portion, but have decided to keep the salt crystal. I have it sitting amongst my plants outside under the entry. It looks rather nice out there." Be warned, it sounds like the electrical system for this lamp is a cheap and dangerous one! I just don't want anyone to burn down their house with this product. If it were me I would have returned it immediately, but I guess she found a solution to use the crystal.
