I have been using this drive for nearly everything for the past year and loved it... until it crashed unexpectedly this week with a failing hard drive and $1200 would be needed to "possibly" get the data recovered. My bad for not having everything backed up, but this causes me to be seriously disappointed in this drive. Wrote the manufacturer of this product and their recommendation of what to do is far less than a true warranty: ask Amazon to replace it or simply reformat the drive (not doable with a failing drive). Update: manufacturer says that because the data recovery company had to open the drive case to access the drive, that this voids the warranty and that I would need to send it back to them (without recovering the data) in order to take advantage of the warranty. Wow.
