I was disappointed. It does not look like a $25 toy ...
I had bought this as a birthday present for my daughter (7) to give to a friend. When it came, I was disappointed. It does not look like a $25 toy right out of the box, but a $10 one. We decided to play with it since we were stuck at older sister's band practice for two hours, and I was too embarrassed to give this cheesy looking thing as a gift. My son, (4) helped. It took them about 7 minutes to put together, and they were bored after two runs. The doll and/or trolley falls off the zipline quite a bit, and the wrench she come with is pointless, it doesn't do anything, and it doesn't stay in her hand very well. This was our introduction to GoldieBlox, and we were so excited about the concept, and especially the zipline, but it literally fell flat! For a toy that is supposed to be about engineering, one would think that it would be better made. Worthless! From what she says on the box and in the directions, Goldie talks like a bubble head too. Who invested in this nonsense? Didn't they focus group it before production? This is going to be way hyped by for the holiday season, but it's nothing to get excited about. Just a few very simple pieces with pictorial directions that are easy to construct. No creativity or way to build again in a different way possible. No book is mentioned as being included, but I thought that one might be, as that is the premise of the other sets, and due to the cost, but nope. Just get a shoe lace, and some wheels from a Lego vehicle and you can basically do they same thing.
