While the story was very positive, I was very disappointed to see that the black girl in Kindergarten sat by herself. Additionally, she was the only child in the class the little boy didn't befriend. We never find out her name. I had purchased the book as one of several books to prepare my daughter for her first day of kindergarten. I was excited because it featured a black child, but I'm afraid it sent the wrong message to my daughter. She was the one who pointed out that the little girl sat by herself.
