Practically a toy
My significant other asked my to buy this as a cleanser for make up telling me about all the benefits and awesomeness of this product. Not really paying much attention to description, thinking to make the person happy, and seeing that it's on sale, I clicked the place order button receiving kisses and hugs of happiness.
An alarm of curiocity rang at the back of my head once the item delivered and unpacked. Tiny piece of silicon that looked at me throught the elegant packaging rose a question wether i got delivered the correct item as it looked like one of those peculiar items found in spam emails. I noted that i have seen something similar on a corner shelf in CVC. My exited and embarrassed feeling were swopped away with a bunch of priorities, and totaly crashed when i got to look at the Foreo in details.
Picking up a purple UFO shaped piece of silicon with a pulsating LED at the bottom all I could think of was "the hell did I just pay almost $100 for". Basically, what I was holding is a ~3" diameter piece of plastic with a battery and vibration inside, and silicon on the surface. Yes, someone will say that there is also a PCB with LED and charging controller in it, but the fact is - so what? It's a piece of vibration silicon that promise you cleaning and anti-aging, and 0 science behind. Only $100 !
On the closer look:
- Tiny size with only one side covered in the silicon brush. Way too small to hold for a prolonged time (basically any cleaning I would say).
- Silicon bristles/brush/fingers are only on one side, so the work surface is about dollar size and flat. Not convenient to go around "features" on your face.
- Longevity of Silicon bristles/brush/fingers is quite questionable due to the size. If it truly vibrates is described, how long will it take for them to start breaking living you with patchy device is a good question.
- Holding this thing in hands while it's vibrating and trying to use at the same was far from comfortable.
- Internel revealed a few hundres of "i love it" pages, and only a cuple of real reviews where my suspicions were confirmed - 0 studies behind claims.
I decided to hold off my thoughts until the thing is actually used by the person it was bought for, as hairy 200lbs gorilla with beard harder than welding brush can't really judge beauty gimmics unless it's a handheld belt sender. So, waiting until morning was the path.
To my joy and childish satisfaction, all my concerns were confirmed in the morning after an hour or so of closed door experiments and trials. The thing was indeed a gimic, too small and too useles, and for the price dosens of wash cloths can be bought. My cafeful suggestion that perhaphs it can be repurpused was answered with laugh and statement that there are planty other purposes we can find for $100 and this thing must go back into hads of "markertiers".
To sum up, if you're looking to a toy and have extra $100 to spend on something dubious, go ahead and have fun. I'm sure you will love it, as any other toys you have bought. Personally, we can't recommend this as actual skincare product simple because price and claims don't match the reality. I'm surpised it's on amazon and not on some IndiGoGo or CowdFunds sites.
