Much better design than the older models. Haven't had a complete power outage since purchase, but it does seem to handle the occasional surge or brownout. According to the monitoring software that I already had installed (NOT APC's), I would have about 9 minutes to safely shut down after a complete power outage. I have a tower PC with two monitors and speakers. This will not support any extended computer use, just enough time to save your work and shut down. I would buy again. The APC provided "monitoring" software does not work with Windows 10 Pro - YMMV. **Update 09/27/17** Had an interesting conversation with APC technical support. 1-The PowerChute software will not properly detect the actual values of any device below a 750. 2-All new model devices (such as this one and the 600 are NOT able to function if the load reaches 70% or higher, and begin emitting a "burning odor" (without any type of beep or warning, mind you). Technician was unable to provide any proof of this documentation, but assured me it was "known" and "working as designed".
