These do not live up to the hype. Work fine for a person finding a stud to hang a picture maybe. Unfortunately, if there are any other objects behind the sheet rock be it wire, pipe, and even insulation it gives false readings or the lights just start blinking like a UFO. IF there are more than one stud in close proximity it gets totally confused. I'm an electrical contractor and where I need it to be most acurate and reliable is right around existing receptacles switches and close proximity studs and those are the exact places that it is not. Save your time and money and buy a simple magnet type stud finder that has a built-in level and cary a tape measure. I returned mine the very next day for a refund.
