Don't get me wrong, the toy is a good toy and is probably a lot of fun for a pet that doesn't destroy toys. This is not a hard rubber toy, it is actually quite soft and malleable. We had gotten this for a doggy present for Christmas and found her to be tearing it apart too fast. So we took it away and put it out of reach. Recently when we were cleaning, the kids had given it back to our Dorky (dachshund/york mix). She continued to tear it apart, unknown to us. This weekend she began vomiting and we thought it was something she had found outside. We took her to the vet and they made us go to a hospital. After they performed surgery, the found approximately (6) 1/2" to 3/4" length pieces lodged in her intestine and also one in her colon. Due to the round shape they had no possibility of just simply sliding through, they were catching on the intestinal walls. So $6000 later, we have a dog that is alive, but still quite ginger with stitches. So, I would not recommend this for homes with small dogs.
