So-so
I ordered this unit because my main stereo system had to be put in the shop for repairs and I wanted something to tie me over in the interim. I also felt nostalgic for the old record players that I had as a kid. Those old players I recalled had good build quality and decent sound. The Archer stereo has that nostalgic look but it really does not stand up to the units from back in the day. Set up is pretty easy (just remember to unlock the screw that holds down the turntable) - after that not much else to recommend. The tone arm is flimsy and is not designed to play new vinyls which tend to have wide grooves - tracking on to the vinyl is hard and it all becomes a skip-fest. One of the features that most attracted me to the unit was the automatic return - it worked for the first play; afterwards it was very temperamental, the eject does not always kick in. Sound-wise - it's so so - nothing to go crazy over. The word on these nostalgic pieces is that they look good but are cheap Chinese builds. I would say that this unit did nothing to contradict that impression. Nonetheless while my main system is away being repaired this has come in handy. I just wish good ol' american build quality was back in fashion...
