After reading all the positive reviews on this clock, and because it is made by Elgin, I decided to purchase it. The FIRST one we received ran 15 minutes slow every 24 hours, so I went to the trouble of calling, repackaging and returning it to Amazon for a replacement. The SECOND clock worked perfectly for all of a month, and then just STOPPED working all together. I thought it had run the batteries out because of the night glow feature (which we kept at the lowest setting), so I changed the batteries but that was not the problem -- the clock was simply DEAD. I am incredibly disappointed. And due to the fact that I did not immediately write into Amazon to return the second clock, now I find that my "return window" has closed and I cannot get my money back. Somehow that just does not sit well with me at all. Obviously, this clock has problems. Consequently, I vehemently recommend that you DO NOT PURCHASE THIS CLOCK. I wish we could use a corded clock, but our power goes out often enough to make it impossible, which is why I chose a battery operated clock in the first place. This clock was not the victim of rough handling (on our end, anyway), and was never knocked off the nightstand or dropped, etc. It just sat there undisturbed until it arbitrarily stopped working altogether.
