Wow!!! It's too bad
I would never have believed it if I hadn't seen it for myself.
How is it possible to give a perfect story to someone - a story that is a sure winner and when they try to make it into a show, it completely flops?
I think the first step is to tell a completely different story from what you were given in the first place while calling it by the name of the original story.
If someone read the books, they won't recognize this show at all. It's a different story altogether. They completely ruined it. Robert Jordan introduced characters in a way that kept the tension going. He introduced them in such a way that the reader wants to keep reading to find out who they characters are. Truly, he wrote a masterwork. What they did with it when they brought it to screen is just unfortunate.
This was theirs to lose. They had an eager audience. All they had to do was reproduce what was written in the books. That is all. It seems like a simple task; but someone was over-zealous and destroyed it.
Don't try to improve on perfection. Leave it alone. That's why it's perfection. Robert Jordan got it right. He proved it by the tremendous fanbase.
If you want to tell a similar story, then I suggest you write a whole new series. This series is too well loved to be messed with. I suspect you'll only find a few people who will be forgiving.
I will keep hoping that someone will actually create The Wheel of Time on screen. Because this is certainly not it.
