Bests & Worsts Reviews from Amazon

The overwhelming majority of these good reviews were given the product for FREE (or at a discount), in exchange for "an unbiased review". In fact, 90 of the current 93 positive reviews disclose that they received merchandise/discount in exchange for their review. This trend is destroying Amazon's review process. My favorite thing about Amazon was the reviews, but now they are tainted by "compensated merchandise in exchange for a review". When people don't pay regular price they often disregard it's full price value. An even bigger problem is that favorable compensated reviews result in more free/discounted merchandise from other merchants that want positive reviews. As a result reviewers seeking more free handouts are motivated to leave positive reviews. Why would any business want to give free merchandise to people that have a history of giving critical reviews? On that note, I actually paid for my merchandise, and guess what? It warped on the very first use. It's funny that the title of the item says "will not warp" - but it warped for me on the first use. The warp doesn't really make it unusable in any way. But, the bottom line is, it's no better than any of the cheaper smoke boxes I've used in the past. It is smaller than most smoker boxes that cost less, and it works no better than the $9 smoker box I purchased at Wal-Mart. In addition my unit came with NO instructions, and NO recipe book (as advertised). The lack of instructions and recipes don't matter to me, but it might matter to someone new to smoking. The box does work as well as the others out there. But, considering the cost, the small size, and to counter all the heavily biased compensated reviews, it gets 2 stars from me. BEWARE OF FLAWLESSLY REVIEWED ITEMS OUT THERE THAT ARE ONLY PRAISED BY PEOPLE WHO WERE COMPENSATED WITH FREE/DISCOUNTED MERCHANDISE. THEY ARE ALL OVER AMAZON THESE DAYS, AND IN MY EXPERIENCE THEY ARE ALWAYS OVERRATED REVIEWS.
