Awful
I have been a Tolkien fan since I was a child and my mother read me the hobbit at bedtime. I was skeptical about Peter Jackson's rendition of LoTR, as I was worried the story would be ruined and I was so happy he stayed pretty true to Tolkien's work. I was disappointed with the Hobbit but it wasn't terrible, it bothered me but I can watch it. So fast forward to the Rings of Power coming out I was in somewhat high hopes that justice would be done again...WRONG. It's awful. Galadriel is probably one of the worst characters I have watched in any show ever. I kept hoping that it was going to turn around soon and then when she jumped into the ocean to swim hundreds of miles home I was done. The character makes the show painful to even watch. I could go on and on about the 8 million things that is wrong with this character but I will save my breath. You failed Amazon...you epically failed here. The rest of the writing and characters are no better. Harfoots?..Awful. Elves?..Awful. Humans?..Awful Orcs?..OK. Honestly I think Durin is the only character I like. I might like his wife if she had a beard and was somewhat believable as a female dwarf. I watched an interview with the actress stating she has a beard and it takes hours to put on as they do it hair by hair.... ummm no...no you do not have a beard. Not sure why they are wasting time applying an invisible beard just so they can say it is there. Also find it odd that they do not show the children at all. But I have my suspicions there as to why they do not. The only good thing I can say about this show is that it is pretty, you can tell they had an endless amount of money to put into the scenes. Just unfortunate they couldn't have spent that on better writers and actors. Or maybe paying someone to apply an actual beard on the female dwarves and not invisible individual hairs. So ridiculous. It is actually almost laughable how ridiculous that is. I kept telling myself to just keep giving it a try but I am done. I got 4 episodes in and it completely ruins my day when I finish one. Maybe next time I am super sick I will binge them all and see if watching them all together helps but I fear it would just make me feel worse.
