While the main portion of the card is 0.5mm thick, there is a portion at the top of the card that has a chip and other electronic components that bring the thickness closer to 1.3mm thick. This causes a fairly large bulge in the back of the cover, which by itself wouldn't be a deal breaker for me because I plan on putting a protective case on it anyway. The problem is that it completely compromises the waterproofing of the phone. The bulge is about half an inch below the flash and causes the case to not seal properly. There is also some foam over the contacts for the card that is supposed to put more pressure on the contacts to help them seat properly. This also causes a bulge too close to the gasket's seal point. The foam could be removed and the contacts would still probably sit properly, but the plastic on the card would need to be trimmed back a few millimeters to get it out of the way of the seal. It was also a bit difficult to get the phone in the right place on my charging mat. It's definitely not located in the center of the phone, but more towards the bottom. It's also offset a bit to the side, but there is no avoiding that because of the gasket and clips. I've added some images to illustrate what I am talking about. I can't figure out how to add comments to the pictures so I'll spell them out here. #1 If you look very carefully at the camera flash you can see a white strip of the inside of the phone, which shows that it is not making the seal. #2 You can see the size of the chip and circuitry if you pull back the sticker #3 Using my caliper to honestly measure the area over the chip you see how thick the card actually is (1.27mm). #4 I covered my gasket with dry erase marker and then placed the back cover on the phone. You can see the resulting gaps in the green lines where it doesn't make a seal due to the bulges the card creates.
