A good story, well written, but it is only half a book. A normal book in a series has some sort of resolution, this leaves you on the cliff after a tragedy with no resolution and in the middle of lots of bad things. Maybe the world is changing and some publishers think it is ok to force you to buy the next volume, but larceny is larceny even when it's small - anyone involved with magic should already know that. It's a bad sign indeed if this is the new trend.
