I thought the book truly deserved 3.5 stars, maybe even 4 but Jade was a horrible person. The MC was rude and entitled for no reason. I understand the author was trying to make her strong and confident, but Jade came off more like a spoiled, manipulative child. What I really didn't like was how people enabled her. Even with her ability, Jade wasn't really much of a threat and yet people seemed to fear her for no reason. When she actually found herself in a situation to defend herself all she could do was light up. A good book ruined by a annoying MC. I am interested to see if the magic system goes anywhere interesting.
