Has GiGi even read the original books? It doesnt seem so. Her characterization of Piemur is way off; he's not from Crom. Stupid is a runnerbeast (an EQUINE) not a "six-legged ruminant". Pern doesnt even have indigenous ruminants - a fact established in both Dragonsdawn and in Chronicles of Pern: First Fall. Piemur wasn't sent to the Southern continent by Robinton to teach Saneter drum codes - he got there by ACCIDENT when he hid in a sack of goods meant for the Oldtimers and fell asleep after stealing a queen fire lizard egg from Lord Meron's chambers. Also, he had no respect for ANY of the Oldtimers. This book is amateurish and inconsistent and not up to the impeccable standards set by Anne McC.
