This safe lasted 13 whole months. Here's the story: Our requirements were simple - A basic safe to store money and prescriptions, with a combination key pad and keys. At first glance we were pleased - perfect size to sit on a shelf in our room (no need to bolt into floor or be uber fireproof), had a couple of shelves to keep stuff and offered basic security we were looking for. In the long run it wound up being a piece of crap. The inside plastic battery compartment cover did not stay on very well which allowed batteries in the safe to fall out, essentially disabling it. After having the battery cover fall off numerous times, rocket scientist husband used electricians tape to hold batteries in place. Tape did not adhere long to fuzzy interior lining which resulted in batteries eventually falling out again (and again and again), which meant digging for the hidden key to open the safe and reinstall batteries. We finally gave up on keypad access, using key only. Key is made of some cheap metal which after perhaps 100 uses BROKE OFF in the door lock today. Just paid $95 for a locksmith to pick the lock open. The broken key is STILL stuck in the lock and the safe is now useless. Why did you not return it, you ask? The thing is a heavy beast, and the hassle factor outweighs the fact that if it had a current warranty I'd still wind up getting this dog of a safe back again. Save your money
