I have been fighting this unit for a week or so now, and it has some serious shortcomings. Installation: This is the first place they get you and should have been a giant red flag. The unit comes with a stupid ISO connector that of course fits absolutely nothing on the planet, requiring you to cut it off (and now ya can't return it - brilliant!). The wiring diagram is a hodge-podge of broken english with redundant inputs, most of which most users won't need. The OS: It's NOT full android! It has a custom GUI installed that pigeon holes you into what Xtrons wants you to have access to. You don't even get full access to the standard settings. I'm not talking about root access, i'm talking pull out your phone, open settings, and imagine everything that you actually use not there, that's what you get (or rather don't get). What that Means: This means you have no way to enter developer mode, so you aren't going to tell this unit to use USB audio devices for system sound. I installed USB Audio Player Pro and connected my DAC, (Dragonfly Red) but all I got was disappointing crackly audio out with no significant amount of volume. That appears to be an issue between the DAC and this unit as the DAC worked with my phone however it's irrelevant as you can't map system audio thru the device for proper usage anyway. Fuming mad with disappointment but undeterred I then fetched my trusty old iSimple Bluestream Bluetooth adapter only to discover that the Bluetooth interface is feature restricted also! This unit is a dumb Bluetooth device. It will accept connections from a smart device like your phone but it will not initiate connections to other dumb devices (like a Bluetooth speaker/adapter for example). It is essentially intended to be a Bluetooth speaker / hands free unit. The only device other than a smartphone that I could get it to pair with is an OBDII reader. This should have had the full suite of Bluetooth functions just like every other cheap android tablet does, but it doesn't. The wifi is even disappointing. If you're a tech savvy user who doesn't broadcast your wifi ssid, this unit will not connect to your network, even after manually configuring it. You have to render your wifi less secure to connect to it... --EDIT UPDATE-- When you turn off your vehicle, the unit enters sleep mode, from which it does power up remarkably quickly however it appears not to automatically reconnect, it has a delay of 30-45 seconds before reconnecting. I had previously stated that it does not reconnect which was inaccurate, it just takes a little while. I was able to install a proper launcher (CarWebGuru) but the stock gui remains underneath. At least you can install a launcher that's appropriate for use in a vehicle,.. the stock GUI and launcher on this unit is pure garbage, it's not suitable for any use I can think of. As reported elsewhere, Netflix is not an option. Why this device won't install netflix boggles the mind, there are likely other apps it won't run. I was able to install hulu, amazon music, slacker radio, twitch and power amp. This led me to another issue, again stemming from the limited and locked down interface they have created. The stock music and video apps are pure rubbish. And since you cannot specify default apps (because you don't have full android access) once you get the steering wheel interface wired to work, the mode function is useless as it cycles between the Xtrons included apps rather than the apps you actually want to use. Again, SERIOUSLY??? This should be configurable to cycle thru a list of apps selected by the user, NOT to cycle thru default apps that cannot be changed. So much FAIL... As for the sound, the built in 4 channel outputs (speaker level) are nothing to write home about either. As others have stated it goes from no sound to way more than background volume as the lowest setting. You have to crank it to an irritatingly loud volume to get any bass response out of it at all and then it's just distortion. My factory head unit with these same factory speakers produced beautiful bass sound even at low to mid volume. The line level outputs aren't any better, it has front/rear/sub outputs but you get no control of sub crossover points, and a poor built in EQ app called "amplifier"... It has all the wrong frequencies, no ability to save presets (You get 1 "custom" preset) and generally makes everything sound terrible. If you just want a cheap and dirty head unit that can run some basic apps, this unit will get you by. If, however, you want high quality sound and unrestricted access to your OS this unit is not for you. If this unit was full android Oreo and not feature restricted, you could use a good bluetooth adapter (decent/good) or a DAC such as the Dragonly Red (Best) to drive a clean, high quality signal to your DSP/EQ and feed your stereo which was my intention all along. I looked at Pioneer, Alpine, Kenwood and other units, but all of them have proprietary OS's on them and are useless to those of us who want to install our favorite apps. This should have been the perfect solution, a full android tablet made into a head unit that I could connect to an external USB audio device (Dragonfly Red DAC) to power my EQ and amps with no compromises. Instead, because Xtrons intentionally stripped out everything that makes Android special, this unit is a useless piece of disappointing low end gear. Only buy this unit if you are a very basic user replacing a low quality factory head unit. Why this doesn't have full Android 8 just like a tablet boggles the mind, Xtrons really screwed this product up good.
