A honest Review With Photos (Finally!)
Admittedly this was a rushed purchase. I did not want to buy blackout curtains because I have a pair of curtains that I already like, so I opted for these panels. I read reviews on two other options and both only came with one panel as opposed to two and therefore were twice as expensive.
I received these and knew right away that I should have chosen to spend more money! I live right outside NYC and have standard sized windows. Each panel barely covers the glass area of the window. Well the window is covers so what's the problem? The issue is these are meant to attach to the back of your existing curtains. In order for these to actually work you would need to know exactly, down to the millimeter where these panels need to be placed flush with your existing curtains to sit in the exact right spot to keep the light out. As these are curtains that is not possible.
I can see the manufacturer is trying to cut corners by being deceptive in their product description but Buyer beware! These panels DO NOT cover the back or even the majority of the back of a standard curtain. In order to use these you need to either attach them directly to the window or be wiling to have gaps where light and heat can still come through the windows. These panels are not 54 inches each, they are 27 inches each. And in order for these to even be usable in most homes each panel would need to be at least 40 inches.
With that being said if you can get around the fact that they're not wide enough to be practice they will keep out the light and heat...as long as you don't mind taking the time to measure and lay them precisely each time you close your curtains. As of now I think it would be too much of a hassle to return them but I would not recommend anyone else purchase these. The final product looks absolutely ridiculous, please see the photos.
