We purchased this product on the recommendation of a friend. For one week it tasted fine, but after that it started getting this lemony, acidic taste. Tasted really bad! After a few weeks of that, I decided to test the water and found that it was reading in the 400's! I tested my tap water and it tested in the 300's. So for some reason the filtered water was worse than the tap! The next morning, I tested again, and it was in the 500's!! Then I read the troubleshooting and dumped all the water and tried all over again. Refilling it. It now tested in the 200's, but I still did not like the taste. So I called ZeroWater and the representative was very condescending and said my area has too high a reading and that I would have to replace my filter weekly. I said then all of California should not use your product because ZeroWater's nifty insert map shows that California has a reading in the 300's. She tried to explain that the filter is just full and needs to be replaced, but of course never mentioned the fact that the filter actually uses an acidic process to "purify" the water, verses the charcoal filters we are usually accustomed to. And that would be accounting for the "acidic taste". I told her even after my Brita filter is no longer as effective, it does not produce such an arid taste. After some research I found that people are testing the pH of the water and finding that the ZeroWater filter in fact makes the water extremely acidic, to a pH of 4 or 5, when water is and should be pH neutral, in the 7 and 8s. Drinking acidic water everyday would have a very negative impact on your overall health, so stay away from this product! I will be returning this product immediately.
