If you are a critical thinker then don't waste your time with "The Secret"
If you are a critical thinker then don't waste your time with "The Secret". The 'secret' is to think positive thoughts even when your life sucks, then your life won't suck any more. Saved you 90 minutes of your life. ---------- Updated: May 27,2020 My original review was written June 18, 2017, which I had forgotten about until I was reminded about it when I looked back at the items that I reviewed on amazon.com Today I re-watched "The Secret" because I couldn't recall the details, so I figured that I might experience a different outlook after a second watching. Nope. I still don't recommend you wasting 90-minutes of your life watching "The Secret". In fact, I'll update the second sentence of my original review as... "The 'secret' is to think positive thoughts, and make yourself feel strongly about receiving and achieving those positive thoughts even when your life sucks, then your life won't suck any more." Additional info... The "Secret", which according to the creators of the program was hidden from the common folk for centuries by the great leaders and thinkers of the world, is 'The Law of Attraction'. This Law of Attraction is thoughts become things. Think and focus on what you want and the Law of Attraction will give it to you. If your life has been sucking, it's because your thoughts and focus have been on sucky things. If your life has been great, it's because your thoughts and focus have been on great things. My thoughts are this "Secret" is common sense that has been around for decades and centuries and has been rehashed many times by people like Napoleon Hill (Think and Grow Rich), Dr. Norman Vincent Peale (The Power of Positive Thinking), and Tony Robbins (Unlimited Power). After watching "The Secret" a second time I felt that the target audience are self-absorbed and materialistic people, because there was emphasis on using "the secret" to get a fancy car, move into a mansion, find the perfect partner, and make lots of money. What I did like about "The Secret" is that it tells the viewer that what a person gets out of life is what the person puts into life and shares with the world. What I didn't like about "The Secret" is that it promotes the idea that anyone can change their life outcome by simply thinking about what they want in life and by feeling strongly about it, which I think is not realistic. Why? Because "The Secret" promotes that by simply putting the thought and feeling for something out to the Universe, the Universe will give the thing to you after a bit of a time delay. Finally, some people who left comments about my original review stated that I "don't get it. Maybe you never will" or that I have a "negative outlook" or put me into the group of "ignorant and closed minded" or classified me as "typical of people who have been indoctrinated by others, either in some religious process, or other close minded club or organization." Amazing how those people gleaned so much (wrong) insight about me based on my original three sentence review. Their comments are a reflection of themselves.
