What genre is this?
Couldn't agree more with PM Arnold's review. I'm also not a prude, but holy heck, where did this major sex scene come from? My head spun.
It starts out being a cute mystery with a likable/hateable ghost, but along the line of a Stephanie Plum book. However, then it turns into a romance book like...well, I don't even know like what because I don't read romances. Then the sex part pops in and suddenly you're reading Jackie Collins.
I can usually get through a book like this in a few hours. I've been reading this for weeks. The only reason I don't give up is, quite frankly, because I'm wondering what happens to Helena, the ghost. I don't care so much about what happens to the female lead.
A note on the writing, and this may well be my personal preference, but Ms Leon constantly Tells the reader and tells the reader...and do you get the idea? Tells The Reader. I got so sick of being told about the attraction between Maryse and Luc that by the time they gave in and did the dirty deed, I was like: Whatever (in my best Valley Girl Voice.).
Would not buy another one--even for another Kindle .99 daily deal.
