I have to replace my sink disposal every 2 years on average (and that's with a water softener). I always have to buy the badger 5 model because I have size constraints under my sink that no other brand would fit in reasonably. It pains me every time I have to purchase one of these because it always seems to fall outside the warranty period, and it's always the same problem. It just starts leaking over time (and floods my cabinets in the process). The floor plate on the machine is made of a pretty thin galvanized metal, and over time it just rusts and holes form in it. Then water just pours into the motor cavity and out the bottom of the unit. I doubt if I was able to invest in a nicer model by insinkerator that I'd have these same problems. This is just their bottom of the line model. And unfortunately I'm stuck with this model until I remodel my kitchen cabinets (which could be sooner rather than later at the rate the water damage forms after one of these goes out...).
