In late November l got another aquarium filter (the Tetra Whisper filter) because the other one was almost impossible to keep clean. This one did a great job at keeping the aquarium clean for my daughter’s Betta fish. However today the fish got caught in the bottom of the Tetra Whisper filter where the fan spins. The rear of his fin got caught in there, and he’d been fighting to get out. I immediately unplugged the filter to stop the fan at the bottom and freed him. He could no longer swim like he always had, but only sideways. He had used so much energy trying to get out and had such bad injuries that he succumbed to his injuries less than 3 hours later. Sure one might say it’s just a fish & it’s no big deal, but they haven’t had to explain to a 7 year old her fish is no longer with us. I now have to get another Betta fish but will not be getting another one of these filters. Just putting this out to try to save another family from loss of a pet. The photo is a picture of our injured fish which died less than 3 hours later. He could only swim sideways. The discolored portion of his fin is where it got sucked in & stuck.
