I purchased this same item 2-years ago and was quite pleased so I just ordered 2 more packages. This time it was not as good an experience. I opened the first package and I would say 85% or more were 1/4 inch diameter on one side and just a hair over 1/4 of an inch on the other side. This makes the bamboo VERY flimsy and bends when trying to tie my tomatoes to them (even though they were stuck into the soil at a minimum depth of 18"). To rectify I put two pieces together to help hold. So, just out of curiosity, I just went out to review the second package I purchased and sure enough the majority in this package were made up of this same small diameter on both ends. I don't think I will order again until Hydrofarm, Inc. changes it's internal specs to ensure 6' lengths are at least 1/2 diameter or more on BOTH ends.
