Cheap Attempt at Peak Design Bag
This bag will hold a camera until it inevitably falls apart. It’s an obvious attempt to replicate Peak Design’s Sling in aesthetics, features, and heck, even the name, it’s only fair to evaluate in comparison to an authentic Peak Design bag. I own a few Peak Design Everyday V1, V2, and Travel bags, so I have a solid base to compare from. I figured I’d give this bag a shot.
Let’s start with the exterior. The low-quality is evident as soon as you unbox. There is a cheap sheen to the material that reminds me of the mini-mouse bag my daughter takes to the park. I tested the waterproofness, and while the first few droplets did bead & roll off the material quickly started to absorb water. There’s also an indentation behind the top zipper that effectively channels water which the worst place for water to collect. Otherwise, all of the hardware is cheap plastic, the zipper pulls and paths are low-quality (typically where a bag fails). When compared the Peak Design’s quality material, hardware, ultra-zip tech, and overall waterproofness, this Amazon bag doesn’t hold a candle.
The interior also has a cheap feel. The stitching is raised and loose, so it’s easy to snag stuff on it, and eventually fall apart. The dividers aren’t structured like Peak Design’s and mostly just get in the way. There’s no elasticity to the internal pockets, so they don’t hold batteries or memory cards tight resulting in your smaller pieces of gear floating around in the bag.
Overall, very disappointed in this cheap attempt at the real thing. I’m sending it back.
