I purchased two of the InterDesign kitchen sink tray soap & sponge holders. The first was purchased several years ago and the second this past December or January. The two certainly appear to be identical from a distance. Closer examination reveals that the older one was completely enclosed with a stainless bottom soldered or brazed in place to create an air tight interior. The recent one has an open bottom with a plastic piece occupying the hollow created by the open bottom. The gap around the insert allows the accumulation of soap, etc. The earlier one is stamped 18/8 stainless but the newer one carries no such stamped designation. The newer one has already shown rust spots where a bar of soap sits but the older one shows no spots and this may be from the use of a lower grade of stainless. I certainly wish they had not cut quality. I would gladly have paid more for one like my older one. I would give the older holder a 5-star rating but not the new one.
