Quality! Quality! Quality! We Named Her: The White Tornado!
Hello, my name is Tim and I am addicted to vacuuming. Twice a day minimum with a few spot vacuuming as needed.
Had two Dyson cordless vacuums over the past 8 years. The last one, V6, had the battery replaced, the long tube and the motor separated from the canister a few weeks ago. Thought I would get a Dyson V10.I realized I was on the Dyson upgrade merry go round. One cheaply made product that falls apart and fails after 12-18 months so I have to buy the next model. SOUND FAMILIAR? Did some research and choose the Meile.
What I like:
Suction is very good. We have 95% hardwood and marble tile floors. Picks everything up. The occasional kitty kibble needs a second pass, but other than that, it works great.
Like that it stands up on it's own. No more looking for a safe place to lean the cordless to move something.
Even on the highest power, I am getting 50 - 55 minutes per charge.
Battery is easy to replace should I ever need to.
Hepa filter is a must for us. Allergies.
The dust collector is a plus. While it may be smaller than the Dyson, it is MUCH easier to dump the debris.
Quality built machine. We bought a Meile corded vacuum, a Solaris, 18 years ago. Works like it did when it was new. We have a 19 year old Meile dishwasher. Works like new. We also have a Miele side loaded clothes washer that is 14 years old. See the trend? Meile makes quality appliances that last forever. I hope this is the last cordless vacuum we will ever buy.
What I don't like:
I really wanted a light on the vacuum like some $100 cordless vacuums have. To get one on the Meile you have to get the top of the line model. Since this is the first Meile cordless, I decided to not spend an additional $300 for a light on the machine. Plus, we really like the white color of the base model.
It's a little heavier than the Dyson. Could it be because it's built to last?
Overall, we are VERY happy with the White Tornado.
UPDATE
After 3 months, the battery died. I called Miele, was put on hold for 42 minutes, and the reluctantly acknowledged the battery was under warranty and they would ship one out to me. IN MARCH! At least a month out!
The "Customer service" person question me and accused me of probably not properly charging the battery when I bought the product. Really? I followed instructions and it worked for 3 months.
Miele does not have batteries but Amazon does. Miele has new products to sell why can't they pull a battery from a new vacuum?
Beware!
Update the replacement battery came. Does not charge. Worked for less than a minute. TOTAL JUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So Miele sent a replacement battery to me. Todays interaction:
ustin from Miele called. He was very nice and informative. Explained that I may have overcharged the battery. Never heard of this and do not know if that is actually possible?
I went through he refreshing of the battery as directed.
After 30 minutes, as directed, I tested the vacuum. Worked for 30 seconds and died.
Put charging cord back into the battery for 2 hours as directed. Kept flashing in the bottom cell and never moved to the middle or top cell.Justin claims if this does not work, it may be the charging cord or I may have to go to a Miele service center. I am not Miele’s service and delivery boy.
I left Justin a message on his phone.
This machine stoped working after two months! I DEMAND a replacement. I would ask for a refund if possible, however, AMAZON said it’s not.
To date I have spent more time trying to get this fixed than I have using the product.
