I have no idea how this product gets anything over 1 star, unless they are being judged on the ability to simply create ice. If you take away the entire "lid, no-spill" aspect of this product, these are just two ice cube trays that, yes, create ice just fine. HOWEVER, there is nothing "no-spill" about these lids. They don't even secure properly to the top of the tray, let alone prevent water from spilling out when they finally appear to be secured. Also, let's talk about this flip-open, pour-hole contraption for a second. This is a total gimmick. I wrongly assumed these trays were designed so that if I had the lid fastened and they were empty, I could pour water into the opening and it would be distributed evenly throughout the tray. Wrong. The few slots that are right underneath the hole fill up immediately, and then water overflows out of the hole. So what would you then do logically? You'd tilt the trays slightly to allow water to run into the other cube slots. You'd be right, except for the fact that all the water then escapes through the secured "no-spill" lid and onto your feet. Sounds fun, right? The only possible benefit I can see from having these lids is that they may help to prevent minor freezer burn for a few days. But they do not fasten tightly enough to withstand a week's worth of freezer life. Save your money and just buy two ice trays with no lids, or seek elsewhere for lidded trays. These are a joke. I'm returning these ASAP.
