The Last Word..... I read was about halfway through
It this really was a book about the experience of a father dealing with his autistic son and the therapist that helps bring the son out of his shell, I would have enjoyed it. I enjoyed the bits that actually were about that. However, that "plot" was actually a sloppy facade put over an even sloppier love story.
We are told, over and over again, from a ridiculously early point in the book, how incredible Andie is with Will instead of being allowed to actually see it develop.
We are told, over and over again, from a ridiculously early point in the book, how incredible the chemistry between the love interests is. Told, not shown. Over and over, in a very tedious and unconvincing manner.
I had to quit the book when that chemistry was compared to a live wire to the crotch. How dignified and poetic.
