This is a seriously gruesome book ! ! Not for the gentle-minded soul....
This book has a great story plot, and the writer does a good job of describing everything. However, there are pages and pages, and more pages that do nothing except describe horrible methods of torture used by the inquisition, and it witch hunts of earlier centuries. Unless you like reading this kind of unrelenting gruesomeness, this is not a book that I would ever recommend reading to anyone. Once I discovered that the book centers around torture and vicious killing, I just skipped over most of the pages of the book, just reading the parts that were not so gruesome, and several times thoaught about not finishing it at all.
However, except for this part, it is a great novel, and I did want to see how it would end, and I loved the great descriptions of the Seattle area and the Pacific Northwest.
