I bought these to replace single use plastic bags for storing my fresh vegetables, for the sake of the environment. Plus I needed large containers as we eat lots of fresh vegetables. They are beautiful and sturdy, but are not built for the use for which they are advertised. A great disappointment. Regular old plastic bags with the ziplock tops are far superior for keeping produce fresh. This purchase as a waste of money, time, resources to pack and transport, Amazon's resources. Am baffled by the high rating from so many buyers. Those ratings are why I purchased. Why does the manufacturer market as keeping produce fresh when they don't. This is misleading advertising. Is the design different now from when the manufacturer first started distributing? They could be used for food, like potato salad, that families want to transport to a picnic or family get-together. They would work to hold leftover food (not produce) for a couple of days in the frig. Picture a bunch of kale left on a refrigerator shelf for a few days, wilted and pale. That is how the larger container kept kale that was freshly picked from a local farm. Organic farm fresh kale and collards had to be put into the compost bin.
