Bests & Worsts Reviews from Amazon

BUYER BEWARE!!!! When I first researched this product on Amazon the reviews were awesome. Then I did some additional research about the lavatool on different web sights. The product still had great reviews. So I felt I did my due diligence on the product and purchased it back in May of 2015. Used it a couple of times and liked it. Even though it took a little longer then 10 seconds to get the temperature. I know they are trying to imitate ThermoWorks Thermapen with the look of it but fail at the performance of it. ( I am a KCBS BBQ judge and was told by fellow judges and competition cooks to get a ThermoWorks product but did not listen) After using it a couple of times it started to not turn on. So I contacted Lavatools about the issue because it SUPPOSE to have a lifetime warranty. Fyi, Lavatools can only be reached by e-mail not by phone. After a couple of days Ben from Lavatools contacted me. He told me to bend this tab in the battery compartment with a toothpick. The thermowand turned back on but would not last. I used it two times after the toothpick fix before it started to act up. This time it would turn on but say the air temp would be 91 degrees when it was 70 degrees. I know it is not designed to do air temp but can't see it being off that much. That does not instill a lot of confidence when your cooking poultry and need to be accurate about the food temperature so you don't get everybody sick. So I decided to test the themowand in water with two other thermometers I own. The other two were dead on with eachother but the thermowand was 15 degress off. I contact Ben again since I still had his e-mail contact information. Ben told me to do the toothpick trick again. I told him the thermowand was not accurate and the toothpick fix would not work. He did not care. I believe he owns stock in a toothpick company since that's all he says. So I told Ben I would like to know about how to get a replacement. NO response. Gave him a couple of day. E-mailed Ben again. NOTHING. So I decided to go through their web sight again and e-mail someone else. NOTHING. Gave it a couple more days and emailed them again. NOTHING. It has been three weeks with no response. Their customer service is a joke just like their warranty. If you don't care about customer service then their a company for you. If you don't care about a lifetime warranty that does not exist then this is the product for you. Do some research about their customer service and you will see that it is poor. I did product review not customer service review in the beginning. Lavatools has not posted anything on their facebook page since November 2014. Shows their laziness. I hope if you get one you don't get a lemon because if you do I hope you have plenty of TOOHTPICKS!!!!!
