★★☆☆☆
Close to unreadable
The above reviewers talk about how much it has improved, so I must assume it was a real train wreck before. The text is packed with sections like "Project teams may hold planning meetings to develop the cost management plan. Attendees at these meetings may include the project manager, the project sponsor, selected team members, selected stake holders, anyone with responsibility for project costs, and others as needed" 40 words to say 'You can have planning meetings; invite appropriate people.'. Since anyone and everyone was listed as possible attendees, the second sentence has no meaning. This section reduces to project teams can hold planning meetings, which is self evident. As most of the book is written in this manner, it is easy to miss the sections that DO contain significant meaning. This book is being used for a class I am taking and I had to find and order a different book so I could get the concepts as my mind keeps glazing over when I read this one due to all the meaningless text. I have an advanced physics degree and have been reading computer language books for the past year, so dry isn't a problem. This book needs a brutal editor that will cut the meaningless words/sentences to make it readable.
