Not the Wheel you know
EDIT: with the Season 1 finale behind us, I can confidently state that this is an unholy train wreck derived from the Cliff's notes and ISAM's WoT Summaries, written in a drunken haze.
This isn't the adaptation you're looking for. Characters are drastically and inexplicably changed from the source material. Scenes of pointless drivel are inserted instead of character development. Serious plot points are neglected, absent, or glossed over; and I counted no fewer than 5 worldbuilding errors in the first 3 minutes - some really egregious, like the "fact" the Dragon could be reborn as either gender. Fans of the series should not hope for consistency or accuracy here. (Oh, also, we don't get the Manetheren speech. That time is wasted by watching Perrin fridge his wife and Nynaeve get abducted for no reason).
From a more generic standpoint, the only stand-out aspects to me are the wide shots and the practical exteriors in the Two Rivers. Thatched they may not be, but they're still pretty unique and lend to the atmosphere. The actors are mostly good. The score is... weird, and not in a good way. Jarring most of the time, occasionally very good. The shaky cam is TERRIBLE in fight scenes, probably to conceal the slightly dodgy CGI of Trollocs in motion (when they're standing still they look pretty good though).
Just re-read the books instead of watching this poor excuse for a multimillion dollar show.
