Shortly after first using kettle I noticed water on the base (heating element) and couldn't figure out where it was coming from. It got progressively worse and then I realized water was leaking out of the plastic water level indicator window on one side of the kettle. It stopped leaking after the water was heated (thank God or it could have been dangerous) but I have requested a replacement unit. Will revise review after receiving the replacement kettle.
