This is a dangerous product
This is a dangerous product, both for you, for your pets and for the environment.
The PTFE (Teflon) this product is made from is inert if ingested and will pass out of the body.
However, when heated to even moderately high temps, it gives off a gas which is extremely toxic.
So much so, that an overheated pan in the kitchen has been known to kill pet birds within minutes. It can also cause a respiratory syndrome in humans called "Teflon flu".
Since this product is designed to be used over open fire, where the temps are very difficult to control or measure, I would not consider it a safe product in any way.
"PFCs have been found in nearly all Americans tested by federal public health officials. Chemicals from this family are associated with smaller birth weight and size in newborn babies, elevated cholesterol, abnormal thyroid hormone levels, liver inflammation and weakened immune defense against disease.
Environmental hazards:
Manufacturing PFCs and the consumer products that contain them poses great risks to the environment and wildlife.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says PFCs present "persistence, bioaccumulation, and toxicity properties to an extraordinary degree."
If you want to cook on a smooth surface, why would you grill in the first place?
Or if you do, why not use a metal pan or griddle of some sort?
Grilling on a piece of plastic makes no sense to me.
