Bottom line up front: The unit is not user friendly and potentially dangerous. I bought the Coletti on the basis of the Amazon reviews. However, as soon as received my unit I was severely disappointed. Its due to the poor design. Please note, the lid is hinged and not removable, this requires the user to push against lid release toggle so as it will not open when pouring. Next the handle, although nicely finished with wood, is stainless steel pm the top/bottom and it not only requires the use of a hot pad, the instructional video by the owners recommend the use of the hot pad. So as you can picture in your head, the user must wrap the hot pad around the handle (not much room for both hand and hot pad) and then the user must position the hot pad so as he can put the resistance against the lid release toggle through the hot pad, so as not touch the steaming hot lid release toggle. Also as you may picture, this leads to unweidly handling the super hot coffee pot. Probably the worst time in which not to have the best control over the scalding hot coffee when pouring. Then when pouring, since the user must keep the pressure on the lid release toggle, as the coffee pot is tilted up, and the hot steam escaping as at that angle may burn your finger holding the lid release toggle, even with the hot pad. A much better design would have incorporated the lid to be pressure fitted and lock into place with a 'click'. This would ensure the lid is secure when pouring and preclude the need for the user to have their finger on the lid release toggle. On top of that, a heat resistant handle would solve the need for using a hot pad in the first place. I only wish I did not use the unit so as I could return it. Although nice to support our small business, I would say in this case, stick to the tried and true brands.
