While the product description claims that this printer can print, copy and scan, this is only partially true. While it is possible to scan, you can only do so externally and not through the printer itself. Your options are either to use the IJ Scan Utility (Supposed to upload the scan directly to your computer), which always gives me error 2,157,50 even when the printer actually did scan something, or to use the Canon Cloud Printing Center (Supposed to upload the scan to a cloud service), which is only actually functional on a mobile browser and is very clunky to navigate. Other Canon models do allow you to scan directly from the printer's menu, so I have no idea as to why it isn't the case here. Would not recommend if you want to scan often.
