Mika's Definitely Obsessed - with Herself
I think there is real value in this kind of book. It barely scratches the surface of the topic it purports to reveal, but it does show how amazing it is to be thin and how unsuccessful you are if, on top of all your other accomplishments, you aren't thin. So if you want to skip actually reading the book, here's the summary. Mika is Queen of the Food Nazis, but has a dark secret of her own. She wants to be really thin so she tortures herself to stay 10 pounds below her reasonable weight. Her place as a thin person gives her the freedom to call her best friend fat. Mika also recommends that you tell your friends they are fat. Mika tells her friend that she will pay for her friend's weight loss and they will write a book together. Diets are bad, and lifestyle changes are good. The friend chooses to go on a liquid diet. The friend, a professional writer herself, gets a couple of essays in the book, but not her name or picture on the cover. Guess who is on the cover? The thin girl. In the end, Mika gained an amazing eight pounds! What an accomplishment! How great for her. The friend lost some weight too, but we never heard from her again. Mika - you still don't have a clue. And to everyone else, don't tell your friends they are fat. They already know.
