I hate to slam an independent author like this, but... "right is right" and "wrong is wrong." With that said, this book is terrible. Key points: 1. At first, it started off with improper terminology being used. I gave the author the benefit of the doubt and figured he was trying to appeal to beginners. I disagree with this entirely though... learn it right the first time! 2. This probably should be #1, but my next important point I need to bring to your attention is syntax errors. This is a huge deal for beginners and I guess from my point of view I was able to get some code review practice on how not to write code. Improper upper/lowercase character usage, typos, and random pipes out of nowhere throughout the book. Terrible, terrible, terrible for folks trying to learn and just getting started. 3. Images chopped and cut off. Are you kidding me? And portions of the images that are missing are very important things like while loops! On top of this carelessness, there are random spaces in front of sentences and on new paragraphs. It's as if no one, not even the author, proof read this book and they pushed out a rough draft. There is even the use of "one" instead of on within a sentence... I wondered if the author was writing this on an android device using auto correct at times while reading this book. 4. Seems like the author is English as a second language. Nothing wrong with that! Just be prepared for unusual sentences that create more confusion that anything. In conclusion, I highly advise against purchasing this book. First half the book is very basic concepts of ethical hacking/pen testing that can be easily researched for free online and contain far greater accuracy and content. The second half of this book is a poorly written C++ introduction with so many errors that it isn't worth your time or energy to invest in. Thank you for reading this review.
