Don't bet your life on them
I purchased a pair of these gloves to use as liners for winter hiking and camping in the mountains of Virginia. My first trip out, with these gloves, I was caught in a cold snap with temperatures well below the forcasted "upper 20's."
At first I was rather thrilled with them. I was using them in conjunction with a pair of heavy mittens, mainly for when I needed to remove my hands from the mittens for detailed tasks. They kept the wind off my hands and were working well as "contact gloves." I was not using them for any heavy tasks but, rather, for simple, camp establishing tasks. Nothing complicated. I was preparing to fix dinner when I noticed a cold spot on my right trigger finger, I was stunned to find a small but rapidly growing hole in the Seirus Hyperlite glove. Being as it was 7PM and the temp was already down to 12 degrees this caused some concern. I ended up keeping my right hand in the heavy mitten and performing most tasks with my left hand because of this. I was NOT a happy camper!
Short answer, do not trust these gloves for winter camping on a mountain top. I am contacting Seirus about the warranty but, even if they replace them, I will end up just using them for driving gloves or something. I will never trust them "in the field" again.
**Update** 6 Dec 2014 I contacted Seirus two weeks ago. They stated that the gloves were covered by a warranty and instructed me to respond to an email, that they were sending me, with my name, address and the glove information. I did so immediately. They also said that, since the gloves failed in such bad conditions, they would pay the shipping both ways. I was impressed.
More than two weeks went by and I heard nothing. I emailed them twice and still heard nothing. On the third email I finally got a response. It included an address and I was told to send the gloves, at my expense, and they would be replaced.
Ok, now Seirus has failed on 1) the product, it sucks. 2) customer service, it sucks too. Not a company which I will do business with again.
Don't bet your life, or waste your money, on these gloves!
