★★☆☆☆
Good Concept, lots of potential but....
I was interested in the plot and the first quarter-ish of the book. It seemed a little far fetched at first but then I didn't expect to much from a $.99 ebook, but I went from mildly annoyed, to full blown just disgusted. First of all the concept was a good one, the execution began to crumble not even half way through the book and began to steadily go down hill. The plot became too unrealistic, first the hero was a bit of an idiot at first but I could live with it, then Grace moved in with him to be on bed rest and relax from stress but she seemed to be under even more stress living there. Everyday was an argument about something, and constantly battling with Jack. Also the constantly rambling on and on and on about certainor random topics (even good or validating topics) was a serious turn off. SPOILERS* I was especially upset with the birth related stuff (I've been a birth and lactation professional for years so maybe that why) but some of it was so far fetched, like the fact that he was a sperm donor he could dictate to her where she will have the baby and that he demands to be there to watch the baby born even against her wishes and legally she couldn't stop him if he had joint custody, uhh...yes she can! Also the fact that her midwife, who conveniently we stop hearing about after a while, completely ignored her wishes when she said she didn't want Jack present for her exams or labor, and even talked to Jack about Grace's care as if she weren't even in the room. Even told Grace when she was adamant that she didn't want him there to get used to the fact that he will be. If I had a midwife (and I absolutely love midwives) like that, I would be quickly looking for another one. The fact that she could change birth locations by just saying so, the plane incident was ridiculous and all of the drama that took place at the hospital especially after both babies were born just annoyed me. The heroine became whiny, inconsiderate about Sam's feelings with dealing with his dying son and her constant demands about his and Susan's baby and at some point she was being creepily obsessive about baby Marc (even if Sam's wife was a capital B) was just too much! I haven't even finished the book and I want it to end! the sexual thoughts and innuendoes were so inappropriately placed sometimes. Your brother's on the verge of a nervous break down, and he is talking to you about what to do about his borderline psychotic wife, new baby on the way that's not his but he wants to raise, and his dying 3 year old that the baby they hoped would be a blood match isn't, and what is Jack thinking about that whole time? Wondering if Grace would love his circumcised penis over her dead husbands uncircumcised one. Are you serious?!? I would so love to check out the other books in the series because they got such great reviews. But then again so did this one...
