Wanted to try one of this for a long time. Many friends recommended similar products. It works, but as the instruction manual very well states: THIS IS NOT A 24/7 bug trap. Since the UV effect of the light is what attracts the bugs, it only work best at night or in dark places. If you are like me that need total darknes and silence to be able to catch zzz, this type of bug trap is not for you. Even in the lower set and after your eyesight gets use to the room's darkness, the blue light does iluminate the room, a little less that a wall plugged night light. Although very quiet, the sound of the fan can be noticed. As with many other room or area noises, it takes time getting use to it. All in all, it does what it advertises. *UPDATE: After 5 months of continuous use, I can vouch and honestly say that in my specific case, this is not the adequate device for my place or geographic area. Our apartment is very hot and we do not have air conditioning, thus the windows remain open 24/7 and have no screens. This is more likely the factor that no product of this kind may produce advertised results. There is not much it can do if the outside has an endless supply of blood thirsty suckers. May be the local mosquitoes have grown some sort of immunity against the UV light. Many times I have seen mosquitoes on the wall 6 inches away from the trap without being attracted. I've tried the trap under my desk at home. Mosquitoes still fly over and under with impunity. Used it on the kitchen with same results. Day and night, mosquitoes fly free in any room the trap is set as birds in the wild. Aren't they supposed to fly into it? I don't know. I've read the instructions over and over. Don't get me wrong, you can see some bugs in the tray (see attached image of one month operation). But it makes no sense that while working all night, mosquitos still fly around the room. Friends with similar products vouch for theirs with happy thoughts. As far as I've seen, theirs (2 other brands) work exactly the same. Conclusion: I am not happy. RMA request for refund is impossible, my fault (long story). Recommendation: To produce mild results, keep it working 24/7 inside closed quarters.
