horrible app makes product unusable
I received my OSMO yesterday and have had about 24 hours to use it. The device itself is great, and once I master the controls (the thumb joystick will take some time to get used to) it will be a great additional tool to my film arsenal. The problem that I have with this device is not the device itself, but in the DJI GO app from the iTunes store, which is required to even use the OSMO in any meaningful capacity. The app is fine with photos which is all well and good, but the OSMO is specifically made for video, and that is where the app fails. Miserably. When you hit the record button (both on the app as well as the OSMO dedicated record button) the app freezes, shuts down the OSMO camera, reboots, and restarts the live feed (the app itself does not restart). No video is recorded at all. And when the live feed restarts, 90% of the menu controls are missing. The app must be manually exited on iOS (the hard exit- double clicking the home button and sliding out the app card/window) to even have the full set of controls visible. I have tested this with both the iPhone 6 as well as a brand new iPad 4 Mini. This crash happened on both iDevices. The accompanying video shows this crash process. I really want to love this device and use it for specific shots when my company films weddings, but when the product is so dependent on the application and the application can't even work, the OSMO is basically DOA. I strongly recommend holding off on buying the OSMO until these issues are resolved. Note: I have contacted DJI's tech support and will update when I find anything out that is helpful.
