I first bought Shea Moisture Raw Shea Retention Shampoo in February 2018, and it was the best bottle of shampoo I have ever owned. Due to it being zero-sulfate and full of shea butter, it smelled and looked amazing. I'm a guy. I need a shampoo I can use nearly every day, to wash the pomade out of my hair, yet doesn't dry out my hair. The shampoo was amazing, I was recommending it to all of my friends, which was weird for a shampoo. Then I bought some in a store this week. I immediately noticed once in the shower that this is less thick, and a different color. I compared the new bottle (Sept 2018) to my old bottle (Feb 2018) and the ingredients are vastly different. It is obvious that after Unilever acquired Sundial Brands, Shea Moisture's parent company, they reformulated the product for the worse. Shea butter used to be the 3rd ingredient listed, now it is halfway down the ingredients list. I won't list the full ingredients lists - I have attached a photo showing them - but it's obvious they significantly changed this product. There are still zero sulfates, but there are many more filler ingredients in the place of the shea butter. In essence, the company has cheaped out on this product. I am extremely disappointed, as this brand has gained and lost a customer in a single year. Another brand ruined by corporate acquisition.
